‘a modern masterpiece…’ [New York Times]
evita 1EVITA, written by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, captured the attention and heart of the public when it was first staged in 1978. Now the original Broadway and West End production will be presented in Australia in all its glory and by its legendary Broadway director Hal Prince. Hal Prince has won 21 Tony Awards – more than any person in history.

With more than 20 major awards to its own credit, EVITA charts the story of Eva Peron, wife of Argentine Dictator Juan Peron, from humble beginnings through to extraordinary wealth, power and status which ultimately led her to be adored as the spiritual leader of the nation by the people of the Argentine. It is a modern masterpiece – don’t miss it!

Australian icon, singer, songwriter and musical theatre star Tina Arena will play the part of Eva Peron. Playing opposite her as Juan Person will be Opera superstar Paulo Szot [who won a Tony Award for his recent performance as Emile de Beque in the Broadway revival of South Pacific] and whose last triumphant performance for Opera Australia was the lead role in Eugene Onegin.
